MEET OUR TEAM
Dave Hicks is the Founder and CIO of Perast Capital. Previously, he worked for five years as a quantitative analyst at Noble Americas Energy Solutions, a US electricity subsidiary of the global commodities trader Noble Group. There he studied the wholesale electricity market and developed expertise in the eastern transmission grid, proposing trades and building trading tools. He later started his own trading operation, where he has generated enviable returns through multiple strategies for eight years.
Dave has bachelor’s and master’s degrees with honors in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Financial Engineering degree from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. His experience and education allow for the unique combination of electricity market fundamentals with quantitative finance theory. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his wife and three children. He also competes in triathlons and is an IRONMAN finisher.
James Ramsey has worked at Perast Capital Management for seven years as head of investor relations, technology, and market affairs. He develops software and IT infrastructure, using them to analyze the electricity markets. Before joining Perast, he spent almost a decade in technical sales for technology companies, where he helped businesses adopt new programming languages and software/hardware platforms to improve efficiency. Now, James is passionate about helping investors discover and adopt the unique opportunity found in electricity markets. He received his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University, where he graduated with honors. He enjoys playing soccer, exercising, and thinking about life’s ultimate questions.
